Air Quality Sensor Breakout - CCS811 (VOC- eCO2)

Air Quality Sensor Breakout - CCS811 (VOC- eCO2)

LE 830.00

This air quality sensor module by Sparkfun is based on CCS811 IC sensor made by AMS. The air quality sensor is capable of identifying the quality of air the surrounding environment by measuring the concentration of the "volatile organic compound" or "VOC". The amount, or concentration, of VOC present in the indoor air is expressed in a variety of units. Commonly used units are parts per million (ppm). If the concentration is 1 ppm, then for every million molecules of air there is one molecule of the VOC. CCS811 can measure wide range of VOC concentration (0 to 32,768 part per billion).

A large number of VOCs are emitted into indoor air from building materials, furnishings, carpets, cleaning compounds, office equipment, personal care products, air fresheners, pesticides, occupant activities, perfumes, house animals, machines like copiers and unvented combustion processes such as tobacco smoking, burning of wood or kerosene, or cooking with gas stoves. In more specialized chemical terminology, the air quality sensor can detect Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Organic Acids, Amines, Aliphatic and Aromatic Hydrocarbons.

The air quality sensor can also measure eCO2 (equivalent calculated carbon-dioxide) concentration within a range of 400 to 8192 parts per million (ppm). This sensor module can be connected to Arduino easily through standard I2C digital interface.
